Sydney Harbour, Pittwater & Hawkesbury Marinas: Fuel, Berths & Facilities

September 28, 2026
Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club marina

Find fuel, visitor berths, pump-out, showers and repairs across Sydney Harbour, Pittwater and the Hawkesbury River. Choose your waterway or jump straight to the facility you need.

By BoatWise · Harbour facilities reviewed 25 September 2026; Pittwater and Hawkesbury facilities reviewed 23 September 2026. Sources and updates.

Before you go: Call the marina to confirm access, availability and suitability for your boat. Opening hours, charges and guest facilities vary; a restaurant booking does not reserve a berth.

I’ve brought together marinas, smaller boatsheds, yacht clubs and working boatyards for powerboats and sailing boats, from runabouts to larger yachts. The guide includes Middle Harbour, the Parramatta River waterfront, Cowan Creek, Coal and Candle Creek and Berowra Waters. Each marina name links to its operator or the source used for the entry.

Sydney Harbour marinas and facilities

Start with the bay or harbour section you plan to visit. Several neighbouring marinas have similar names, so the location matters as much as the brand.

My favourite marinas

I’ll start with two of my favourites: d’Albora The Spit and Birkenhead Point Marina. The Spit is BoatWise’s home base, with fuel, marine services and waterfront dining in the same precinct. Birkenhead combines a fuel stop with convenient shopping-centre provisioning, plus showers and laundry for eligible marina guests.

Petrol and diesel in Hawkesbury River

“Listed” means that fuel is recorded in this guide. It doesn’t mean today’s stock or visitor access has been checked. “Not confirmed” means the available information wasn’t clear.

Plan your stop in two minutes

Think about what you need from the stop: lunch, fuel, a night alongside or some work on the boat. That will narrow things down pretty quickly.

Your plan Start here Access considerations
Lunch or coffee by boat Compare Balmoral, Rose Bay, Darling Harbour, The Quays and Hawkesbury River Marina in your chosen region. Visitor space, minimum charge, stay limit and permission to leave the boat. Match each marina’s published vessel range to your boat before enquiring. These are starting points, not guaranteed berths.
Stay overnight with the family Start with the shower-and-laundry shortlist below. Overnight permission, shore access after closing, toilets, showers, keys and total cost. Shore-power connections and potable-water availability vary.
Take a tender ashore Use an authorised marina or club landing. Permitted landing, where the tender may be left, security and return access. A fuel pontoon is not tender parking.
Arrange maintenance Use the repairs shortlist and describe the boat accurately. Actual displacement, beam, hull type, propulsion, lifting points, equipment suitability and earliest booking.

Planning for your boat’s size and type

Length is only part of the picture. Your boat’s width, draught, height and the layout of the berth matter as well. Here’s what tends to make a difference as boats get bigger.

Vessel size or type Berthing considerations
Under 10 m Short-stay availability, minimum charges, pontoon height and safe boarding.
10 m to under 15 m Berth width, approach depth, turning space, water and shore power.
15 m to under 20 m Fairway space, berth configuration, crew access and dock assistance.
20 m to 24 m Allocated berth dimensions, manoeuvring room, depth, power capacity and refuelling access.
Over 24 m Superyacht berth allocation, air draught, crew access, high-capacity shore power and arranged bunkering.
Multihulls and other wide-beam vessels Berth configuration and beam limits can be more restrictive than overall length.

Use your boat’s overall length, including swim platforms and outboards, rather than just the length in the model name. A boat might fit the berth but still be unsuitable for the approach, depth or lifting equipment. Staying overnight also comes with its own access and amenity arrangements.

What does a marina stop cost?

The berth price isn’t always the whole bill. Minimum charges, multihull surcharges, power, water, pump-out and after-hours access can all affect the cost. Short stops, overnight stays and permanent berths are priced differently, so use the operator’s current rates and cancellation terms.

Facilities finder

If you’re after one particular service, start here. These shortlists will point you in the right direction. The regional entries have the finer details about who can use each facility.

Where can you get petrol and diesel by boat?

Petrol and diesel are listed separately in each waterway’s fuel table: Sydney Harbour, Pittwater and Hawkesbury, Cowan and Berowra. Each row links to the marina’s full entry and operator source.

Petrol: check whether the pump supplies unleaded or premium, the exact octane, and whether the product suits your engine. Where a source says only “premium”, this guide does not assume 95 or 98. Diesel: check whether it is a fuel-dock service, customer-only refuelling or a separately arranged bunkering delivery. “Fuel advertised, grade not specified” does not establish either product.

A marina may have the fuel you need, but its fuel wharf still needs to suit your boat. Depth, turning room, hose reach and access all matter. Don’t use the marina’s biggest berth as a guide to what fits at the pumps. And remember, 24/7 fuel doesn’t always mean someone is there to help you dock.

This isn’t a live fuel-price or stock list. If your trip depends on a fuel stop, check it’s available before leaving. Petrol and diesel are separate listings for a reason: a marina selling one may not sell the other.

Pump-out, showers, laundry and repairs

Use these shortlists alongside the regional entries for guest-access conditions and service details.

What you need Marina options Access and service notes
Sewage pump-out d’Albora The Spit, Birkenhead Point, d’Albora Rushcutters Bay, d’Albora Cabarita Point, Rose Bay, Middle Harbour Yacht Club, Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, Roseville Bridge, White Bay 6, Sydney Superyacht Marina; The Quays, Bayview Anchorage and RMYC Broken Bay. RPAYC’s visitor guide also lists pump-out. Visitor access, opening hours, charges and staff assistance vary. Sydney Wharf’s berth-specific system is private.
Overnight stays: showers and laundry CYCA, Birkenhead Point, Cammeray, RMYC Broken Bay, Akuna Bay and Hawkesbury River Marina. RPAYC’s visitor guide lists both. Arrange overnight berthing separately; listed amenities do not guarantee an overnight berth. Casual guests may need a key or access code.
A shower after a day afloat Also check Kirribilli, Lavender Bay Boatshed, Manly Boatshed, Clontarf, Northbridge, Gladesville Bridge, Woolwich, The Quays, Newport Anchorage, Fenwicks and Sandbrook. A marina customer bathroom is not necessarily a public bathroom.
Dry storage for a smaller powerboat Sydney Boathouse; Akuna Bay. Birkenhead Point offers a different on-water dry-storage option. Overall length, beam, weight, height, engine position, launch notice and after-hours layover.
Slipping, antifouling or repairs The Spit, Clontarf, Castlecrag, Roseville Bridge, Gladesville Bridge, Phoebe Street, Noakes and Woolwich Dock; Careel Bay, Colin Beashel and Lovett Bay; Empire, Fenwicks, Brooklyn and Sandbrook. Actual weight, beam, draught and cradle/lifting suitability. A travel lift’s tonnage alone is not enough.
Food and provisioning Birkenhead Point, Rose Bay, The Spit, Cabarita, Darling Harbour, Cockatoo Island, The Quays, Gibson, the Newport clubs, Empire, Akuna Bay, Berowra Waters and Hawkesbury River Marina. Book the berth separately from the table. Confirm which outlets are open on your day.
For an additional cross-check, consult the NSW Government pump-out directory. Authority lists can retain older names and operating details, so confirm with the facility.

A quick note before you plan your trip: This guide uses published information. A detail marked as unconfirmed doesn’t necessarily mean the service is unavailable. Some facilities are only for berth holders, and a listing here doesn’t reserve you a spot. Photos show the setting, sometimes from an earlier date, so use the marina’s current instructions for your arrival.

I’ve included as many smaller facilities as I could identify, too. You’ll also find a separate section for private marinas and places where current information is harder to pin down. Those aren’t recommendations to turn up and tie up.

Smaller clubs, private marinas and older marina names

A boatshed, club wharf and commercial marina can look similar from the water, but they don’t necessarily offer the same access. This section helps separate the places you can book from private facilities and older names you might come across.

Additional club waterfronts

Facility Facilities listed Access notes
Avalon Sailing Club, Clareville Member mooring leases in front of the club; separate club cruising moorings. Club membership and allocation apply. Not a public full-service marina or fuel stop.
Bayview Yacht Racing Association Dinghy/boat storage for some craft, rigging areas, launching access and clubhouse/BBQ facilities. The club’s foiling page also lists showers and changing rooms. A sailing and small-craft facility. Confirm membership, storage and access; do not assume wet berthing for a cruiser.
Sydney Flying Squadron, Careening Cove Club boatshed/wharf, sailing facilities and dining. Club permission is required for landing; not an established public cruising marina. Keep club launching access clear.
Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club Club boating waterfront, dining and sailing facilities. A club landing is not an unrestricted berth. Confirm permission and stay limits.
Drummoyne Sailing Club Sailing, clubhouse dining and commercial mooring enquiries through the sailing office. Mooring allocation, boat storage and private-boat landing need direct confirmation. Do not confuse it with Corleone / BlueDock Drummoyne Marina at 30–32 St Georges Crescent.
Sydney Rowing Club, Abbotsford Rowing waterfront and dining. Not listed as a full-service marina. Obtain express recreational-boat landing permission and keep rowing operations clear.

Private and residential facilities

The Harbour also contains residential and restricted-access berthing. Do not plan to arrive without the berth holder’s or manager’s permission. Pulpit Point, Wondakiah, Balmain Cove and Sydney Wharf have individual entries above with their access restrictions.

Other private/residential names recorded in the Harbour storage survey include Toff Monk, Woolloomooloo east and west, Walsh Bay Pier 6/7, Hopetoun Quays, St Georges Crescent, Abbotsford Cove, Cape Cabarita and Hilly Street. Their current facilities open to visiting boaters were not confirmed. They are included for coverage, not as places to refuel, use showers or tie up for lunch. Source: Harbour boat-storage survey, 2019.

Commercial waterfronts around ANZAC Bridge

The marinas in this precinct do different jobs. Compare Blackwattle Bay Marina for commercial charter operations, Sydney City Marine for booked repairs, Sydney Superyacht Marina for large-yacht berthing, Sydney Boathouse for wet and dry storage, and Multihull Central for multihull sales and servicing. Their berths and services are not interchangeable.

The new Sydney Fish Market boating notice distinguishes commercial fishing berths from planned visitor berthing. The reviewed notice gives an expected opening period for visitor facilities, not confirmation that they are operating. Confirm actual visitor availability before planning a stop; do not use a fishing berth as public parking.

Marina names that can cause confusion

Name you may know How it is listed here
Corleone Marina Drummoyne Drummoyne Marina, Corleone / BlueDock listings. Both brand websites list the same address and phone. Corleone Marina Drummoyne is also a registered business name. Confirm the current booking brand directly. Corleone, BlueDock and ABN Lookup.
Davis Marina North Harbour Marina, Balgowlah.
Camerons Marina Phoebe Street Marina, 5a Phoebe Street, distinct from Balmain Marina at 1–3 Phoebe Street.
Roseville Bridge Marina Roseville Marina, Roseville Chase.
Manly Boatshed Treharne’s Manly Boatshed, Fairlight.
Seawind / Rozelle multihull base Use the current Multihull Central Marina contact at 20 Chapman Road. Do not count an older Seawind reference as a second confirmed marina.

Places where the current details are still unclear

Site or name What we know
Neutral Bay Marina Listed in the NSW pump-out directory, with staff-operated pump-out and client toilets. Current booking arrangements and day-to-day public service require confirmation.
Sirsi Marina, Newport Council-filed 2024 assessment describes proposed redevelopment at 122–128 Crescent Road, including berth reduction and removal of slipway activities. A proposal is not proof of completed work. Current operation and facilities remain unconfirmed.
Gonsalves Boatshed and Barrenjoey Boat Hire, Palm Beach Named as working waterfronts in the Pittwater Waterway Review. Current marina services and visitor access were not confirmed. Barrenjoey Boat Hire is not automatically the same operation as Barrenjoey Boatshed/The Joey.
Wharf Street Marina, Brooklyn Identified in the Lower Hawkesbury Estuary Management Plan. Present operator, standalone status and public facilities require confirmation. Do not import information from the identically named marina in Canada.
Pattons Slipway, Lyons Boatshed, Sailors Bay Boatshed and Campbell Street boatshed Historical Harbour inventory leads. Current operator/facility details were not resolved sufficiently to recommend them as visitor stops.
Fountains Boatshed, Abbotsford Boatshed, Waterview Road Marine Centre, Stanard Marine, McMahons Point Boatshed Retained as working-waterfront research leads from the Harbour inventory, not confirmed current public marinas. Their names should be checked before reusing old contact or service information.
President Shipwright Services, Drummoyne Current operator advertises shipwright work and gives 02 9181 3467. Confirm vessel acceptance, yard location and access directly; public marina amenities are not confirmed.
Waterview Wharf Workshops, Balmain East Former maritime workshops now used by creative and professional businesses. Not confirmed as an operating public marina or repair yard.
River Quays and Woodleys Historical names, not confirmed as operating visitor marinas in this review.

The older Harbour names above come from the linked 2019 storage survey. The NSW destination-marina map is another useful starting point, but it doesn’t include every marina or show whether a berth is free.

What about the upper Hawkesbury River?

Further upriver, you’ll find more holiday parks, ski parks, hire-boat bases and private jetties than serviced visitor marinas. Del Rio Riverside Resort and Pacific Park are examples of river facilities with their own access rules. Arrange river arrival, launching, overnight use and any fuel purchase directly; park facilities or kiosk fuel do not establish an alongside public fuel wharf.

Spencer, Wisemans Ferry, Lower Portland, Sackville and Windsor should not be treated as guaranteed marina-service stops simply because they have waterfront businesses or public ramps. I haven’t been able to confirm a complete list of full-service visitor marinas along this stretch. Brisbane Water, the Central Coast marinas and the Nepean River are outside this article’s scope.

Before you arrive by boat

Before heading in, make sure the berth suits the whole boat, not just its length. Width, draught, height and weight can all make a difference. A lunch booking doesn’t include a berth, and a fuel stop doesn’t give you somewhere to leave the boat while you head ashore.

Check the weather, tides, navigation notices and any bridges along your route using NSW boating maps and current navigation information. A listed berth length doesn’t tell you the depth or overhead clearance.

Check the route as well as the destination

Trip Planning check Current information
Harbour or Pittwater day trip Review wind, conditions and warnings for the return journey as well as departure. Bureau of Meteorology Sydney enclosed waters forecast
A route through the Spit Bridge Know your boat’s air draught, including aerials and equipment. Check tide-dependent clearance and whether you need an opening. Official Spit Bridge opening information
Travelling between Sydney Harbour and Broken Bay Plan the exposed coastal leg separately from the sheltered-water destination. Bureau of Meteorology marine forecasts and warnings
Hawkesbury, Cowan or Berowra trip Check the charted route, depths, bridge clearances and local restrictions for your vessel; marina approach instructions also apply. NSW boating maps

It’s worth having a second option nearby, especially if you need fuel or a berth for the night. Keep enough fuel for the return trip and your planned reserve. Use this guide to choose a facility, then use current charts and navigation information to get there.

Frequently asked questions

Does this guide cover powerboats, sailing boats and larger yachts?

Yes. I’ve included facilities for smaller powerboats, sailing boats, larger yachts and superyachts. Each marina has its own limits, and some larger-vessel facilities have minimum sizes or charges. The regional tables show the published boat-size ranges where available. Space on the day is a separate matter.

Do all marinas sell fuel?

No. Some are primarily berth storage, club waterfronts or repair yards. Others advertise fuel for their own customers, or arrange diesel delivery rather than operating a public bowser. Use the fuel finder, then confirm the product and access before departing.

Is a marina restaurant booking also a berth booking?

Usually these are separate arrangements. A restaurant reservation does not include permission to berth or leave a vessel. Do not leave the boat at a fuel wharf, loading berth or ferry landing while you eat.

Can visitors use yacht-club facilities?

Some clubs advertise casual berthing, while others allocate berths, ramps and moorings to members. Reciprocal membership, guest sign-in and marina acceptance may all be separate requirements. A restaurant’s admission policy does not establish boating access.

Which names refer to the same facility?

Phoebe Street Marina was formerly Camerons. North Harbour Marina was formerly Davis. Church Point Marina was formerly HolmePort Marina. Heron Cove Marina is a historical name associated with Rowell Marine. Sydney Harbour Marina is the Darling Harbour/Cockle Bay destination. BlueDock and Corleone pages both appear for Balmain and Long Island, so confirm the current booking route. They’re alternative names, not extra marinas.

Are Akuna Bay and Bobbin Head on Pittwater?

They are commonly included in broader Pittwater boating guides, but Akuna Bay is on Coal and Candle Creek and Bobbin Head is in the Cowan Creek system. I’ve grouped them with the Hawkesbury and its connected waterways so they’re easier to find when planning a trip.

Does this guide include every private jetty?

No. It covers marinas, club facilities and service yards, including smaller and private sites where information is available. It doesn’t treat every residential jetty, ferry wharf or launching beach as a marina. Businesses and access arrangements change, so I’d rather be clear about gaps than pretend every waterfront facility has been verified.

Build confidence before your next marina visit

If getting into a marina feels harder than it should, I can help. At BoatWise, we work on the things that make a difference on the water: berthing, reversing, handling wind and getting comfortable in tight spaces. Get in touch about a practical training session.

Keeping this guide up to date

You can follow the links on each marina name to see where the details came from. Most go to the marina or club; a few go to an authority or berth agent, as noted. Sydney Harbour names and facilities were checked online on 25 September 2026, with Pittwater and Hawkesbury facilities reviewed on 23 September 2026. Older council records helped identify smaller sites and former names. They haven’t been treated as proof that those services are still running. This was online research, without telephone checks.

Supplementary operator sources: RMYC Point Piper facilities and dining status, CYCA visitor/dining enquiries, Elizabeth Bay tenants, Azul, St Siandra, Bayview Anchorage berths, RMYC Broken Bay fuel wharves, RPAYC visitor guide, 2024, Fenwicks berthing and lifting, Brooklyn Marina background, Long Island’s Corleone listing, Berowra Waters tenants and BYRA changing/shower facilities.

Run one of these marinas and spotted something that’s changed? Send me the updated details so I can keep this guide useful for everyone.
