Restaurants, Cafés & Fuel by Boat: Sydney Harbour, Pittwater & Hawkesbury

September 28, 2026
Rose Bay Marina waterfront building with a tender alongside

Find coffee stops, waterfront lunches and fuel around Sydney Harbour, Pittwater and the Hawkesbury, including Cowan Creek and Berowra Waters. Choose your waterway or jump straight to a stop below.

My starting point is simple: sort out the boat before booking the table. Some places have visitor berths, others need a mooring and tender, and some only allow a quick drop-off. The details below explain where to land, where the boat can stay and who to call.

Choose how you want to arrive

Think about how long you want to spend ashore and whether everyone is getting off the boat. That will help you choose the right arrival arrangement.

Arrival type How it works What to arrange
Visitor berth Your boat stays alongside while you eat or collect food. Book the berth separately from the table and confirm the stay limit.
Mooring and tender The main boat stays off the dock while the crew travels ashore. Permission to use the mooring, a suitable tender and the return trip.
Pickup and drop-off Passengers or supplies use an authorised landing briefly. A separate plan for the boat after the pickup or drop-off.
Access enquiry only Call the venue to agree where to land and where the boat can stay. Get the operator’s approval before you go.
Launch-day coffee Food is near a ramp for before launching or after retrieval. Separate permission if you intend to arrive afloat and leave the boat.

When you call, give the operator your boat’s length, beam and draught. Confirm the space, how long you can stay, any fees and insurance requirements. If there is a bridge on the route, check your clearance too.

Sydney Harbour: food, coffee, restaurants and fuel by boat

Ripples Rose Bay and RivaCoffee, takeaway or a long lunch at Rose Bay Marina

Rose Bay Marina gives you a couple of options. Ripples has restaurant dining and a kiosk for a quick coffee or something to take back to the boat. The kiosk lists daily hours of 6:30am–3pm. Upstairs, Riva is the spot for an Italian meal.

The marina offers casual berthing, pickup and drop-off, and diesel. Call ahead and explain whether you want to collect food or leave the boat while you eat. The main berths are advertised for boats from 10–37 m, but it is still worth asking about an arrangement for a smaller boat.

Details and bookings: Ripples Rose Bay · Riva · Rose Bay Marina access

Chiosco and OrmeggioCoffee at the window or a booked Italian lunch

Chiosco is handy for coffee, takeaway or a casual Italian meal. Its takeaway window opens at 8am daily, with closing times varying. The jetty seats are for kiosk customers. For a longer seafood lunch, book Ormeggio.

Book the boat in separately from the table. The restaurants have an exclusive berth, and Ormeggio requires prepayment and boat insurance. Overnight bookings are also advertised. You can ask d’Albora The Spit about other temporary berthing options.

Feeding the crew onboard? Chiosco offers catering with three days’ notice. Arrange your collection time and jetty access when you order.

Details and bookings: Chiosco visitor information · Ormeggio berth bookings · Catering orders

St SiandraMediterranean food beside Middle Harbour Yacht Club

St Siandra works for a restaurant lunch or a quicker stop at the takeaway kiosk. The kiosk currently runs Wednesday to Sunday, opening earlier on weekends.

The team welcomes enquiries from people arriving by water. Give them a call and explain your boat, how you want to land and how long you plan to stay. Make sure you have an agreed place for the boat before booking a meal.

At Clontarf, Sandy Bar Café is at the marina for coffee, breakfast and lunch. Sandy Pantry is the kiosk near the reserve and swimming enclosure, and Sandy Lounge offers bar and restaurant dining. The café and pantry also have online preorder options.

Arrange your arrival with Clontarf Marina first. Ask which berth or transfer point to use and where you can leave a tender. Keep the boat well clear of the swimming enclosure.

Echo serves coffee, breakfast and lunch at Roseville Bridge Marina, currently Wednesday to Sunday. It is an option when you want to head further up Middle Harbour.

The marina advertises short visitor stays and unleaded, premium and diesel. Call for a space and approach instructions before heading up. Check the bridge clearance and depth against your own boat, and confirm when fuel service is available.

BalmoralBook a berth, then take your pick along the beach

The Boathouse Balmoral waterfront.
The Boathouse Balmoral waterfront. Photo source

Balmoral is a good place to organise the boat first and choose your lunch second. Balmoral Boatshed advertises casual berths for boats up to 12 m with a draught under 2.2 m. The listed price is $30 for up to three hours, with booking essential. Confirm the current price and a suitable space before you leave.

The boatshed also takes enquiries for casual moorings and runs a tender service. If a berth will not suit your boat, ask about a mooring and how everyone will get ashore and back.

Once ashore, The Boathouse Balmoral has coffee, breakfast and lunch, plus selected dinner services. Bathers’ Pavilion has the Restaurant, Bistro, Betel Leaf Thai and Kiosk. Public Dining Room directs boaters to Balmoral Boatshed for moorings, so book your table separately. For fish and chips, seafood or burgers, Bottom of the Harbour is just across the road and accepts phone orders.

Chowder BayGreat lunch options, with a pickup and drop-off wharf

Chowder Bay has Ripples, L’Héritage and Café La Mer. Café La Mer is a handy choice for coffee or takeaway, with online ordering available.

The important part here is the wharf. The Harbour Trust lists an 8 m vessel limit and general public access from 6am–6pm for passenger pickup, set-down and deliveries. You cannot leave the boat there while everyone has lunch. Arrange after-hours restaurant access directly with the venue.

Have a plan for the boat after dropping people off. If you intend to arrive by tender, confirm the landing and where the tender can stay. A table booking does not include either arrangement.

The kiosk advertises coffee and cakes daily from 7am to noon. With only one or two destination berths listed, this is a stop to call ahead for.

Ask for a berth allocation and a clear stay limit. The free tender service is for commercial-mooring customers, so visitors need to arrange their own access with the boatshed. This is separate from North Harbour Marina at the former Davis Marina site.

Cockatoo IslandLunch and a walk around the island

Marina Café & Bar, Cockatoo Island.
Marina Café & Bar, Cockatoo Island. Photo source

Cockatoo Island lets you make more of a lunch stop. Camber Wharf offers casual berthing for private boats. Day spaces are not reserved in advance; overnight stays need a booking.

Published daytime rates start at $15 for four hours for boats up to 29 ft and $35 for boats 30 ft and over. Check the current conditions, especially for a larger or taller boat, as the price bands do not tell you everything about access.

Marina Café & Bar is beside the marina, with Cockatoo Overboard elsewhere on the island. Check kitchen hours before arriving, particularly early in the day or outside weekends.

Deckhouse and WoolwichWaterfront food, with your stay arranged separately

Deckhouse at Woolwich Dock serves coffee, breakfast, takeaway and lunch. The public jetty and pontoon are for passenger pickup and drop-off, so arrange a separate place to stay if everyone is going ashore.

Ask the marina or dock operator about a longer visit. Woolwich Marina is also a useful contact if you want to eat nearby at the Woolwich Pier Hotel or walk to Cucinetta. Check the landing and the walk before booking.

Darling Harbour and Cockle BayHave lunch ashore or get it delivered to the boat

Helm offers a straightforward way to eat onboard at Cockle Bay: book a marina berth, order online and include your berth number. The team delivers food and drinks to the boat, and ice is available too. The listed minimum order is $50.

The berth is a separate booking and charge. Sydney Harbour Marina lists prices from $65 for up to three hours for boats under 7 m, with higher rates for larger boats. Saturday evenings have minimum booking periods and movement restrictions around the fireworks. Check the conditions for your chosen time.

If you want to eat ashore, the Cockle Bay precinct includes Nick’s Seafood, Nick’s Café, I’m Angus, Adria, Baia The Italian, Blackbird and Café del Mar. Your booked berth gives you a base to head ashore; check directly with each restaurant if you want takeaway or delivery.

Catalina describes water arrival via the nearby wharf. Sydney Seaplanes Lounge, previously widely known as Empire Lounge, is another waterfront dining option in Rose Bay.

Doyles has the on-the-beach restaurant, Garden Bar and Fishermans Wharf takeaway. The takeaway is a useful option for lunch back onboard, but the website says no preorders, so allow time to collect it.

Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel offers Beach Club dining, and Camp Cove Kiosk is another nearby coffee and food option.

Organise your shore transfer before you go. Older stories about complimentary Doyles moorings and dinghies need checking directly with the operator. Keep ferry facilities clear, and confirm where you may land and leave a tender.

Arrange your landing before choosing a restaurant. You can ask Treharne’s Manly Boatshed about a destination mooring and transfer in North Harbour, then work out the walk to your venue.

Cottage Point Kiosk and its waterfront. Photo source

The kiosk serves breakfast, lunch, coffee and takeaway. Phone orders are advertised, although they may not be available during busy periods, so call before relying on a quick collection.

It lists one customer mooring, first come, first served, with a two-hour limit and no overnight stays. You need your own tender, and the skipper must stay at the kiosk and keep an eye on the boat.

Check the boat limits directly. The FAQ says boats up to 6 m can use the dock and gives a mooring limit of 50 ft in calm conditions, dropping to 40 ft in wind. The getting-here page says dock boats must be under 4.5 m and gives a 40 ft mooring limit. Get the current limit and approval for your boat before approaching.

There is no fuel at the kiosk. The separate Kuring-gai Motor Yacht Club is the local fuel stop.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get coffee by boat on Sydney Harbour?

Try Chiosco, Sandy Bar Café at Clontarf, Ripples Rose Bay’s kiosk, Echo on the Marina, Sanders Kiosk at Cabarita or the cafés on Cockatoo Island. Book or confirm the boat access first. Balmoral Boatshed is another way to arrange a stop for the beachfront cafés.

Which Pittwater restaurants and cafés can I visit by boat?

A note on the information in this guide

I’ve brought the food and fuel options together with the access information published by venues, marinas and public authorities. Where the details conflict or need confirming, I’ve said so. Always check your actual berth or transfer with the operator.

The main online research dates from 20 September 2026, with selected access and fuel checks on 21 September. The wording and images were updated on 28 September. This is not a record of telephone confirmations or visits to every venue. Hours, prices, services and access can change, so use the linked operator details to plan your trip.
